Oh yeah, I'm sure it is! That's the only thing holding the front suspension from flopping around under there If the he77 I had getting that bolt out of one of 'em is any indication. That's why I had to buy new ones

Me too. I cut them off with a torch. Both sets. That was before I found out they are special.

I really liked the POR-15 and would recommend it to anyone. A little pricey, $35/qt, but worth every cent. I sprayed mine and it sprays easy and covers really well. Dries to touch in about 20 mins, apply 2nd coat in a hour (if you want one) and top coat in 6-8 hrs. If you wait over 36 hrs before top coating they recommend scuffing with sand paper before applying top coat. I used the Eastwood High Gloss Chassis Black and am really pleased with it. Finish is rock hard and a nice, shiny gloss. It's also about $35/qt. On my frame I used 2 qts POR-15 (2 coats) and 1 qt Chassis Black (1 coat). I sprayed it with a $15 Harbor Freight gravity feed paint gun. The POR-15 is a real PITA to clean up after so make sure you were adequate protection or you can toss your clothes and it'll take 2 weeks or more for the overspray to wear off of your skin. Clean your painting equipment quickly 'cause if you let it dry even lacquer thinner won't cut it. The Chassis Black cleans up easily with paint thinner. Altogether I've used about 6 qts of POR-15 and 5 qts of Chassis black, so far, and have some left over. In hindsight, I probably would have went ahead and bought the gallons but I didn't have that much money to drop at once. Good luck!

Be careful spraying that por 15 it hardens with moisture so don't get it in your lungs, the moisture that is in there not good for your health. I personally don't like por-15 have used it a few times.

I also painted the first set of leaf spring i had for my 69 project. Eaton does not recommend painting between the springs as it wears and then the center bolt comes loose so might want to keep an eye on those. Too late now but also easier to take apart and put the pack back together if you c clamp the pack together takes the pressure off the center bolt.

Thanks for tips and advice! Especially that about the springs. I'll keep an eye on those center bolts. Yeah, I've been really amazed at how little rust I've encountered. A little pitting under the cab mount bushings but only surface rust everywhere else. I've yet to gut the interior or get to the bottom of the cab though so it remains to be seen.

OK, so I've taken the whole week off work to work on the bump and this is all I got accomplished after the differential. Parking brake equalizer assembly cleaned and painted (As promised! Thanks a ton, Larry!)

I-beams finally got back from the machine shop with fresh new king pins and bushings and '74 F100 front disc brake spindles attached. Blasted and painted and with new Energy Suspension bushings. Not near what I had hoped to accomplish but at least it's progress.

Yep, that's the one, Larry. An hour with some Purple Power and a wire brush and another 30 mins on a wire wheel on my bench grinder and they shine like new. Almost hated to paint 'em. Thanks again, I couldn't have done it without you!

I took pictures of it at a buddy's yard to show another buddy. She saw the pics and said: "Wow, I really like that that." It was in our driveway within about 12 hours. She's great. We are going to take a n auto body class at the local junior college and get it straight and painted.
