Rear bumpers

Both my son's and my truck's rear bumpers have pretty good bends in them from either hitting or being hit by something else...Both are diamond-plate step bumpers,and both,in addition to the dents,need some serious refinishing....I may tie each one to a tree and try straightening them out,but they never seem to turn out right....Where would I look for aftermarket ones...hopefully locally,so the shipping wouldn't be too high?...Or has anybody ever straightened these out?...

LMC Truck sells diamond plate step bumpers.
They have one model with lights that can be wired up as back up lights, or wired to a switch to serve as trailer hook up lights at night. That's the one I plan to get.

Yeah, I was thinking of getting one from them as well. Like Joe, I wonder what the shipping on that bad boy would be? I was hoping to try like a 4X4 place locally to see if they sell the bumpers.

I am not sure where to find a bumper, but I thought I was the only person who tied trucks to trees. I tied my friends truck to a tree, after he was rear ended, and he floored it. It bent the bumper back better than it was, but it is still bent. That is something I would never do any of my vehicles though. My friend does not know any better, so when he wants to do something with his truck that will mess up his truck, but fun, I tell him it wont hurt it.

Years ago I loaned my car to a friend, who then proceeded to get side-swiped by another car. It bent my front bumper OUT, not in....and you know what? I actually had fun running INTO a tree to push it back. It actually looked pretty good by the time I was done with it. (The bumper, that is...not the tree!)

If you have the right tree you can use it for pulling engines too. I think there is a redneck joke about stuff like this . If not there should be

Last time I was in Pep Boys, they still carried Fey diamond plate step bumpers.

Ive looked at the replacement rear step bumpers from various merchants but find they look too new for a vintage truck. I'm considering getting one welded up at a shop.I think all the original bumpers were an option and were fabricated.....am I right?
For my 68 anyways...hmmmmmmmm

This is the bumper on my truck. It will not be reused when I get everything back together.
$35 + shipping.
If you're interested let me know. Shipping to Alberta would be pricy though.
It will be Saturday before I can get it off and weigh it for shipping.

hey spartman i have unbent bumper with a chain and a tree before. the way to do is go real easy. a little at a time. i never got them perfect but they wee better than they were.

Tieing it to a tree works realy good if it is bent down. I told my freind that I thought the only way to bend it was to floor it though, hoping he would rip it off.
