The perfect burnout

I was wondering how people do those sweet burnouts in their vehicles. Do they take the brake off the rear, and hold the break while accelerating?, that's my guess. i'm sure most of you know. any hints?

Well, most times I've seen people just powerbrake it. It holds the front well enough that the backs will be ovepowered by engine torque.

With all my vehicles being stick shift, you just wing it and let it fly. Line lock helps.

In a stick shift, you rev up the motor and let the cltch out all at once. (wing it and let it fly)

Line lock is used primarily in drag racing. It locks your front tires only by shutting off your rear brakes.

i had a 72 vega once. yea with the aluminum block. i used to do neutral drops in it. i could get a good squeal out of the tires. but it loosed the torqure converter bolts evey time and the next day i'd be tightening them back up again.

Actually if I was your dad I'd be pissed. Tires are expensive and so's the gas to light em up.
That being said, a little bleach on the tires is the answer to lots of pretty white smoke. Our local ummm, burnout used to do burnouts after flicking a switch wired to a windshield washer pump mounted in the trunk and plumbed to a bottle of bleach and two lines that ran to the wheel wells over the rear tires, then...SMOKE!!

A guy at school way back when had the same type system except he used old tranny fluid.
Smoked up the whole student parking lot and had teachers coming from all directions.

Fortunately I was never much for smoke shows....I'm a acceleration junky.

Getting the vehicle to move is better than sitting still!!!

Yeah I like going fast. That's what the Kawi's for-100mph in second gear with 4 more to go. I have to slow down to merge with traffic on the I-5.
Smoke's still cool once in a while though.
