Started the body tear down today

Post by 1968flareside »

After 9 years of having the 68, I started removing the bed today. My new gas tank to put in the frame should be here any day. Here's a sample of a couple of pictures. More in my gallery!!

Hey Great news, Where will the filler neck for the new tank mount? Is the one behind the seat long gone? Good luck Hope everything works out the way you planned. You did plan this out I hope

The new filler will be in the floor of the bed. I still have an original tank, but not the one out of my truck. One of the previous owners put that homemade tank in the bed. I have a plan, but it is quickly falling apart!!!

I am actually thinking about using my saddle tanks on my truck and move the filler doors to the inside of the bed on the side there where the flat spot is. They would be out of the way and easily openable.

...unless you want to use a tonneau cover or topper sometime in the future. ;)

Here's a pic of what I'm doing, just on a different year. I don't plan on putting anything in the bed once I'm done with the restore.
