The axles in a 9" Ford rearend for our trucks are both 29-7/8" long from the end of the axle to the outer flange face. Pulled the axles from a '67 9" on the floor at my shop today to get those measurements. :D

How many splines are they while you are looking? Are they 28 spline? or 31?

I already reassembled it, but with it being a '67 rearend, they should be 28-spline.

I've done some research on the internet and I believe all of our 67-72 Ford 9 Inchers are 28 spline.

Also, they weigh 194 lbs, not 1,000.

The length 29 7/8 inches, is that from a SWB?

194lbs. WOW, I wonder how much lighter alunimum would be.
I can take it apart, but getting it back together is another story!

No, both trucks measured were LWB. Keep in mind that measurement is just for the rear driveshaft, from U-joint to U-joint. The front driveshaft is an additional measurement, but that one will vary depending on what engine/trans combo is installed. The rear driveshaft should remain the same for all LWB trucks with similar differentials.

I'm thinking that some wires are getting crossed here?? Or is just me??

We're talking AXLES, right.
Yup, they are 29+"~
That is for any 67-72 truck axle(9" ONLY) long or short wheelbase-does not matter.
The axle does not weight 194 lbs. Maybe the complete rear HOUSING, including the axles? The axle itself weights 10-15 lbs~

Std is 28 spline, Option is 31 spline...but not alot of them out there.

The driveshaft lengths have no bearing on this.
Bump'n along.

Yeah, I wasn't paying attention and was referring to the whole rear end assembly.

WHOOPS! I wasn't paying attention either....that post should have gone to a different thread about driveshaft lengths. Wrong thread!
