Bellhousing question?
Can anyone cross reference bellhousing part # C5TA-6394A. I am pretty sure that is a 65 but cab anyone tell me what it fits??? The parts list for my truck,(66 F100,300-6), calls for part # 6392. I have the original trans but not the bellhousing.

Re: Bellhousing question?
While we are talking bellhousings . . . .
I have worked on Ford small block passenger cars for decades and every SB car bellhousing I ever saw was aluminum.
I just did a transmission/clutch on my 69 F-100 302/OD and the bellhousing was IRON? (maybe iron is stronger for a truck application?)
I never saw an iron small block bellhousing before but I also could not see any major diferences that could not have allowed a swap between iron & aluminum.
Can somebody comment on the differences between the iron & aluminum parts?

Iron is heavier.
Iron will not corrode to a pile of oxide as fast as aluminum can.

Re: Bellhousing question?
Uhhh. . . Ok perhaps I should have been more specific. . .
Can the iron/aluminum parts be swaped between a truck & car without problems?
Is an aluminum belhousing known to have an especially short life span in a truck driven normally?

Re: Bellhousing question?
car transmission require a 6 inch deep bellhousing and a truck transmission requires a 6 1/2 inch deep bellhousing.
