Anybody using the wide ratio gears in their C6. Worth the Money? I'm considering it as I do a fair amount of towing with my 390 SB bump. But,..geez,..they are proud of those gears!
anybody have any experience?
thanks in advance!

Re: Wide ratio gears
No FM,
These gears are to replace the ones in a current C6 to lower first and second gear. third would stay 1:1. I'm rebuilding my C6 and just don't know if it's worth it. these gears are supposed to give you more grunt in first and second. Much nicer than changing the rear gears as it doesn't change 3rd. So I would go~3.25 in the rear and put these gears in for some good grunt from being stopped. Still in low 3 grand at 70 on freeway.
Here's some on e-bay, look at th price!

Re: Wide ratio gears
you can get all you need from a E4OD in a junk yard for less than $20. that is what I am doing to the c6 I have started on but have put it on the back burner in favor of a t18 I did a job for. a 95+ E4OD will have the nettle barring and you can find froward and directed that hold 4 and 5 clutches

Re: Wide ratio gears
These guys offer a wide ratio. Not too much more than a standard gear rebuilt. I was going to order one for my 390 wagon.

I go junk yards where you pull the parts your self, E4OD are prone to sensor failure and can be tagged as bad. The one I found the parts out of was tagged as bad but the guts where in superb shape, you do have to do a lot of digging to get the parts you want out of it.
