Floor shifter

Recently purchased a '70 with a 360 and c6 trans. One of the PO converted to a floor shifter. The deal is it looks like they put a home made shifter in it. It works ok, but I am looking to put in a B&M shifter. The home made works normally I believe. P-R-N-D-... . My question is when I was looking for shifters, some descriptions say they don't work with reverse pattern valve bodies. I don't know what that means. I don't want to order something that doesn't work, and have to send it back. Thanks for any help you can provide.

If you have a stock transmission, you should be fine. (As far as I am aware), a reverse pattern just changes the gear order from P R N D 3 2 1 to P R N D 1 2 3, it is helpful in racing.

I put a B&M Z-Gate on my 70's C6. It works just fine but it was a little expensive I think ming ran me $131 with my brothers O'Reilly discount.
