3 sp transmission removal problems

Post by furnitureguy-123 »

I am trying to remove my 3 sp transmission. I have all the bolts out, all of the linkage unhooked, but I cannot get the transmission to come loose from the bell housing. What have I forgot or, what am I missing? I have tried all I know but it will not come loose.
Any help will help!!!!

push the clutch in. that may make it loose and start it coming off . there are four bolts around the trans to bellhousing and two bolts in the rear mount. and of course the drive shaft. take you hand and push up on the tail housing. that trans is light enough that you can lift the rear of it up and down and shake it up and down. its probably just stuck together with grease and stuff.

I will try that. I have lifted up and down on the tail shaft, I have pushed side to side, I have even blocked under the tail mount and used the weight of the engine to try and break it loose. I will try the clutch idea.

Thank you!!!

That exactly what a good friend, (an excellent Ford mech), told me. He said my input shaft was bent and it was hung on the clutch. The guy I bought the truck from hooked a 1980 300-6 to the original 3.03 trans. I am not sure that will ever work. The original motor was a 240.
Thank for your input. No pun intended.

Yeah!!! :woohoo: I got it out. I had to take both the trans. and the bell housing together.
Oh what fun we have
Now I have to get it rebuilt and back in.
