1969 ford 460 engine swap
Got a 460 out of 1978 ford f-150 4x4 was wondering what it would all take to put it in my 1969 ford f100 2wd. Any input would be great trying to build sweet ride
Re: 1969 ford 460 engine swap
you will need motor mount towers from a newer truck(up to 77?) you will need a transmission that fits your 460 for 2wd, probly some odds and end that im forgetting. not a hard swap though. you may need to move your trans crossmember. depends on your trans i think.

the engine towers up to 79 and the correct bellhousing or transmission for a 2wd.

The best part is with a stroker crank you can come up with a 545 CI engine. I always wanted to do one just to show people what a bump would do. I think it would be best in a SWB stepside

Well, that engine has already been under the surgeons scalpel at least once since no F150 4x4 ever came with a 460. If you did a search I bet you could come up with all the information and every small thing you need to know.

Re: 1969 ford 460 engine swap
is the engine complete? (intake, carb, accessories, etc)
im an FE man myself, but ive always liked 385 series as well. its a pretty solid engine. very telling when an engine family is offered from 1968 all the way through the mid-late 90's.
also, what transmission does your F-100 currently have? iirc, a 460 will bolt right up to a C6...

Re: 1969 ford 460 engine swap
The swap is easier than I expected. I got a 79' 2wd donor truck with a 460 w/auto. Used the towers which bolted right in my 68' and the tranny mount lined up to. I have a 2wd so not sure about 4wd. I like pics so here's one of mine.
