New sound in engine

Post by Chaseman »

I have a new sound in my engine. It started after a run on the freeway with a friend and his chevy.
It went away for a day then it came back after I was trying act fast for a little while. So it seems to only come around when I get on it and then slowly goes away. The sound is not entrily a tick yet not quite exhuast leak sound. Also it speeds up and down with engine speed. What puzzles me is that it goes away.

Lifters?? I have no idea. The going away could be do to changes in oil pressure... ?

I did the same thing racing an old boy in my 66 chevy. Dropped it into low at about 60 mph (2 speed PowerGlide). Needless to say, I was able to coast off the highway into a 7-11 parking lot. That was the end of the little junkyard 305....

oh fun , sorry I forgot to mention there's nothing funky with my oil pressure just the same high oil pressure. Also unfortunately turns out the friends chevy is just a tad more aerodynamic then my truck if you know what I mean.
