C6 modulator valve?

Post by NUTNDUN »

Hey guys, I couldn't find an answer to this question doing a search. I know the kickdown cable doesn't need to be hooked up but if I have a automatic/manual tci valve body does the modulator valve need to be hooked up? I plan on shifting manually all the time anyway becasue if I remember right when I had the truck on the road two years ago, I had the kickdown cable and the modulator hooked up and if I put it in drive it would shift through the gears on it's own like it should but when you would slow up or come to a stop it never downshifted on it's own. You could ratchet it down to 1st then put it back in drive and it would go through the gears again but it would never downshift on it's own.

I have heard that you can run it without the vacuum modulator valve, but it will make the tranny shift very hard. I haven't tried it myself so im not sure. It shouldn't bother you if youre going to be running a manual valve body though.

Yes, it has to be hooked up or it will be very hard to find third gear...
