copper headers

i was watching a bike build off the other night and the guy used copper pipes, when they get hot they turn into very nice colors, i was wondering if there was a way that you could make copper headers, i dont think solder would hold up under the heat... any other ideas?

could be brazed.
would cost a fortune in material.

Tig welding or silver solder would probably hold. I don't think copper would last. The heat cycling would deteriorate it.

Right, the heat and cool cycles would harden the pipe and it would crack. I think this would happen within the first couple of hours of run time. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

i don't think it would be a good idea for a car or truck.

Copper anneals opposite of iron. It gets soft from being hot. I would think they'd turn to mush after a while, or be so soft they fell apart.
