Mustang shifter on my F100

Post by kf6wxj »

Is this possible and if so how complicated is it? Maybe I should have mentioned its a C-6 with a Z-Gate right now. My mistake sorry its been a long day. Thanks, Bill

I have been told it's the only way to get a shifter on the floor. I haven't done much research though

Cable shifter, right? I have seen them in trucks, make a nice box or console to mount it up where it is comfy.
Great ideas have always encounter violent opposition from mediocre minds.

Honestly I have no idea if its cable or rod actuated. I was hoping one of you would know. Bill

I've had a '69 Mustang shifter hooked up to the C6 in my '63 Unibody for 25 years. Rod actuated :D

My 23 T-bucket has had a 65 stang shifter in it since 1965. Works with a rod, super simple and rugged.

Factory by rod.

My Futura (now Kayla's Futura) uses a cabe in the same capacity (I cut down an extra loader valve cable from a Massey Ferguson, but whatever ya have will work if you're willing to fab a couple clamp brackets).

my column shifter broke, so i made a custom linkage that goes through my floor. its basically a steel dowel rod with about 4 bends in it. works fine, but it took some getting used to because instead of moving forward and back, it moves up and down.

i am planning on getting a B&M Truck Megashifter. looks like its really nice and very well designed. here's the link: http://www.bmracing.com/PRODUCTS/Perfor ... egashifter

I've got the Z-Gate on my 70 C6 combo. I works fine I'm just thinking about changing out the cable for a shorter one becuase the one the kit comes with is kinda long for our trucks.
