9 from31 to 28 spline.

Post by big dog »

I have a 31 spline 3.50 from a bronco 3rd member and would like it to fit my 28 spline axles in my 69 pickup.I am on a buget and was thinking I can swap the side gears around to make this work for now.Is this possible? Thanks in advance. :D :D :D

Cool question. :)
I don't know. :/
Seems to me the ends of the axle housing would
have to be the same to be able to be swapped,
because the bearing setups are different. ??

I think you can.

you can try it. but you may have to leave it unless the bronco axles are the same length as ours are. 29 7/8? i think is what ours are.

yes you can, if the side gears are either both open or both the same style limited slip. use all the gears shims and pinion idler shaft as a set. Also mark them and try reassemble in the same places.
