When engine warms up it wont start?

Post by JMcTurnan »

So I just put a thermostat on, and it works well. Its warming up faster, heater is throwing out hotter air. But it seems when I leave it running and it gets warmed up, when I shut it off for a second and turn the key it sounds like it doesn't want to turn over, and it will turn over once or twice and stop. Whats wrong, what do I need to do?

I would check your timing and make sure it isn't to far advanced! Do you have an FE, 429-460, 302 ? Is the engine stock or close to it?

like 428 said check yoiur timing.
Could also be time for a starter.
Try with the headlights on and see how much they dim when cranking. If your starter is drawing big amperage(internal short) the lights will dim significantly.
