Points Eliminator Coil

Post by Sazman »

I'm trying to find out what kind of coil I need to work with an Accel points eliminator set I ordered. I have read all kinds of information , but what is really the minimum voltage I want and ohms and all that stuff. I try to look and shop around and avoid the high dollar glitzy stuff.(That's all code for I'm a tight ba$tard) Is there a maximum voltage, in other words is there such a thing as too hot? I also see some of the coils have a built-in resistor, some don't, so I have to make sure I have the ballast resistor thing covered. Or do I really need anything other than stock anyway, and if so why? Any and all thoughts are welcome.

1971 F-100 Custom 302 C4
1962 F-100 Custom Cab 292 3 on the tree, restoring, probably gonna sell it I guess. Love the engine.
1972 Maverick 2 DR 250 I-6, C4, restoring.
1978 F-150 always wanted one of these too. 300, 3+1 OD trans, pretty well preserved, working on it
1985 F-350 460 crew cab, rough as a cob

All these are southern Arizona desert trucks, little to no rust, but the sun takes its toll,ha.
