All,
Since I am looking at swapping out the 360 with a 300/6, what years are the best overall solution? I prefer EFI, so I guess the best EFI years would be a more correct question. (I would rather do the 4BT, but money/availability is an issue).
That said, sometimes mixing and matching is better... is there are better way to go (70's 300 with a 97 EFI)?
I don't know much about the 6's, and I will be cheching out fordsix, but looking for Bump-experience.
TIA,
Eric

Re: 300 6cyl
The EFI 300's are all the same except for the lateest 96-97 ones, the very last ones were sequential MAF injected.
The latest ones are peppier (they can also be chipped/cammed), but also seam to get worse mileage. My recipe is an 87-89 EFI 300 from a stick truck because the wiring is the cleanest and most straightforward with air injection, EGR and cats removed. A walker downpipe with a single 2.5" exhaust and a turbo muffler. My seat of pants would say 200HP/300 lb/ft for one done that way. And the mileage will really surprise you. Gear it to cruise over 2500 RPM though, they lug great, but seam to get the best mileage wound out a bit.
