3 on the tree clutch pedal issue help????
ok I'm getting a 1968 F100 Ford Ranger that was a Farm truck and one of the obvious problems that it has is the pivot bars off and sitting **** eyed. now on my old Ford Maverick with 200Cid straight 6 and 3 on the tree it had the pivot bar riding on a bushing on the side of the engine, But it's my understanding that these Ford Edsel V8s clutch Pivot bars are different how would I go about rectifying this problem????

Without seeing what you're seeing, it's gonna be impossible to give any advice. Can you post some pics?
Edsel V8s? What engine do you have in there, anyway?

KEITH BRO surely you Jest it'sa 360FE Ford Edsel V8 not literally the Ford Edsel Car V8..........I've also heard this bar refered to as the Z Bar we've always called it the pivot bar.....oh and Pictures are currently impossible because the Old Guys 300 miles away at the moment but they shouldn't be for too terribly much longer though. OH and Dude gonna get it running for an extra $50.00 so $300.00 for a Running 1968 F100 Ranger

Well, technically the Edsel engines included the 332 and the 361. I just wondered whether that's what you had instead of the standard light-truck 360/390. While one would think that because these engines are all members of the FE family the clutch linkage might be the same, I know things have changed over the years, and since I'm not too knowledgeable about what kind of linkage the Edsels used, I didn't want to start offering advice if you had a different setup. (And I guess I've never heard of anyone referring to the FE family as "Edsel engines".)
Anyway....so can you at least give some details about how the Z-bar is sitting? Is it higher on one side, or is it skewed front-to-back? The Z-bar does indeed have a bushing engine side. It's attached to a bracket which bolts to the front side of the block's bellhousing area.
Here's a couple pics of a truck I disassembled. In the first one you can see the assembled clutch linkage, though with all the grease and the header tubes it's kinda hard to make out the bracket and bushing.
In this picture, you can see where this bracket was originally attached:
But this is what that bracket and bushing looks like:
On the frame side, it should have another bracket and bushing which bolts to the frame and looks like this:
Here's a shot of all the clutch linkage pieces:
Hope this helps!

Re: 3 on the tree clutch pedal issue help????
MAN YOUR AWSOME!!!!! Thanks a million thats bad ass thats everything I needed to know IN pictures!!!!!.....I can't recall for absolute certainty but I think it was hanging down vertically on the engine side which is probly just a matter of taking the engine off the engine mount on that side jacking it up a hair or two and repositioning the bar and letting it back down
