ares360 if you want a 7.3 IDI in your truck then go for it. Even with a turbo a D60 will handle it. With all due respect to your friend though the hp and torque expectations out of a 7.3 are pretty unrealistic. In my experience a 7.3 is pretty reliable.I've never seen twin turbos on one but I suspect it can be done. Twin turbos from a CAT however I think are a bad idea. Cat can't keep their twin turbo ACCERT engines together and they have spent millions on engineering. They have spent millions more on warranty claims a great deal of which was incured by turbo, precooler and mounting component failures.
Good luck with your project and please post some pics of it's progress if you can.

If I "badgered" you I apologize. I had no intention of [making you mad}, not sure how anything I said would.
If you want what you have go for it. I do diesel conversions for a large part of my living. I'm just some guy behind a keyboard to you I'm sure, but my opinion may not be completely useless.
All I'll say is if you want a [substandard engine] fly into a project blind with both feet. Ignorance costs a lot of money with diesel engines.

Re: New rear axle? or not?
We each have our likes and dislikes, but to knock (insult) someone for doing something different then what you would do is not what we’re here for.
Seems ares360 is working with a local expert that figured out the 7.3’s and it is his specialty, he has done his research with this person and is moving forwards… we can’t presume to know anything more…
This forum is good to help others with their questions asked and if anyone feels someone is doing something unsafe to themselves or the community around them, then we try to point it out and follow up with questions and thoughts + facts to back it up. We don’t knock someone for doing something different from what we would do or prefer…
As this thread has gotten off topic from the original question, and I believe it was answered, it’s now locked.
