Re: T5 tranny
Im no expert but from what Ive read on here the T5 wont hold up to the hp/torque that our engines put out. Im sure the more knowledgeable people will be along soon to tell you why and if you do decide to do it what you will have to do.

Re: T5 tranny
What engine do you have? A T5 will NOT bolt up to an FE or any big block for that matter, if i'm wrong i know people here will correct me but for some reason i think i;m right.

Re: T5 tranny
I have never seen an FE bell for a T5 nor a big block bell. Both series of motors have too much get-up-and-go for the T5. Some T5s came behind small blocks, but not many. Most were behind 6cyl and 4cyl.

Re: T5 tranny
I have one behind my 300. Works great.
The mustang T-5 from the mid 90s are good to around 300ft-lbs so a stock 352 would hold up OK, but if you did anything else it would probably break.
Look for a M5R2, they are better for a V8 Aplication.

Re: T5 tranny
I went looking for T5 info and found way more than I wanted or could absorb. The early 4 and V6 units would bet too weak. The WC would hold up but for that money I think you have other options too. Shifter placement is an issue and there are several when you take the chevy units into consideration. You could build an adapter plate, redrill your bell housing and shorten the input, they can be made to fit. The M5R2 has an integral bell housing and won't fit the FE but you can get kits to make the NV4500 from a gas Dodge work.
Great ideas have always encounter violent opposition from mediocre minds.

This is for Madmax. How did your shifter line up? I was thinking of doing this . But it seems there might be shifter and seat problems.

Re: T5 tranny
I have a 70 f100 with a 302 and a 5sp out of a 90 mustang gt i rag on it all the time without any problems so far... make sure to get the driveshaft fromt he mustang mine slipped right into place on my shortbed. heres a pic of how the shifter is with the seat. in 2,4,r the bend just misses the seat, and never touches the dash in 1,3,5

Re: T5 tranny
sorry about the late reply, was out of town. anyways its its a 302 and i know the t5 and t5 wc was was mostly used on smallbock v8's (ford and chevy) but my question was really more aimed to how hard i would be and placement in the truck. and what driveshaft to use ect......

Re: T5 tranny
should be pretty easy, make sure that you bend the column on the shifter somewhat like mine other wise its under neath the seat. I used the 90 mustang gt driveshaft and it bolted right up. I dont think the 302 changed so much that you couldnt use the bellhousing from a v8 mustang but i dont know for sure. Be sure to get the tranny and bell from a v8 though.
