EFI in the bump

Post by taylor351 »

I have got a friend that has a ford 302 and 5 speed feul injected that will go in my 69. The question is I knew with a mustang motor what to get as far as wiring, but does anyone know which painless or (fill in the blank) wiring harness I need?
I think I first need to know what year the f150 that it is coming out of is, right?

Depends on what year the motor is, and what it came out of. Painless has the system to run either a mass air motor or a MAP sensor setup. You can do it with the factory harness & all, just gotta trace out circuits & determine what you do & don't need.

If you have a truck speed density motor use the harness from an 87-89 truck. The early harnesses are very simple and almost completely seperate from the rest of the truck's wiring. Almost plug and play.

You can do a MAF conversion on a speed density motor as well if you want more out of it. The car and truck motors aren't much different mechanically.

I found out today that it is a 1994 f250 donor truck.

Now what do I need? :help:

Get an 87-89 F series harness and computer for a 302. If you want more use a Mustang HO harness and computer.

Pre-96 trucks are speed density bank injection. It works fine, Nothing at all wrong with it. The cars used MAF sequential injection which is more precise.

If you want easy, get the 87-89 truck harness. It fits and is easy to figure out. You can always switch it to mustang MAF later if you want.

Fordfuelinjection.com has all the diagrams and pinouts. Eliminate EGR, air injection, cats the right way and you'll be happy you did.
