what do I need to put a clutch pedal in my 72 ranger 2wd that is a factory auto trans what years will work the trans is a 4spd 4x4 w/t transfercase I want some granny gears for pulling logs/trucks/and to hear them duals backrap

As far as I know you need the clutch assembly from a 68-72 truck and it will bolt right in.

yeah the donor truck is a 70 that had a three on the tree with manual brakes have you ever seen or heard of any one doing this to a truck (4x4 drive line into a 4x2) I just want some creeper gears and the benifit of a tough trans Im sick of the slush box thats on there

a body swap would be easier than moving all the running gears and everything over to the 2wd. the steering would be a mess to figure out how to hook up to a 2wd frame.

nah just the trans and the transfer case no front axle these trucks have amazing traction for a 4x2 never been stuck yet to tell the truth I drove around 2 chevy 4x4s this year they were stuck on bald ice in the middle of my uphill crossin i rubbed it in good to the owners

What would be the point in putting a transfer case in a 2WD? I would think the granny-gear of a 4-spd would give you what you'd need. Not that it couldn't be done, but it would be a whole lot of trouble for no gain IMO. Just swap the 4-spd in and call it good.

super super low bro and that is the only 4spd trans i have I torture that truck it is my paycheck an my other woman I cant wait for the weakest link to break and put me under.

You can use the transmission you have, assuming it's era correct it's going to be a divorced transfer anyway so just leave the transfer out. All you'd have to do is make a custom driveline, not a lot of coin there, or change the output to a 2wd.

You couldn't possibly need a lower gear than what you're going to get from a NP or T18, if you tried to pull a load that granny low couldn't handle your truck would cough up its spleen.
