Hi Lads,
I am doing a frame off restoration on my 71 F250. I have just started building back up. I noticed the holes for the transmission mount are off center. I did not notice this when I pulled it off thanks to 38 years of grease and dirt, so I don't know if the holes should be closer to the front or the back. Obviously I don't want to get half way through the build to discover the tranny is mounted incorrectly.
Thanks,
Robbo

Re: Transmission Mount
the hole in the crossmember will be more toward the passenger side when you have it in right.

Thanks,
I left the cross member in when I had it powder coated, its the mount that bolts to the cross member that is the problem.

Re: Transmission Mount
I think it might be called the rear engine mount but it bolts to the tranny with two bolts and one bolt through the mount to the cross member.

Re: Transmission Mount
i've never had a four speed of any kind. here is what i would do. i would put the tranmission in and then slip the mount under it and see how it fits to the crossmember and to the trans. if it is wrong turn it around to the other direction. here is what i think it could be like. i think the mount will set even with the trans mounting surface on the front and the back. so if the holes are offset just turn it around until the mount lines up with the bolt holes and the mounting surface on the transmission.
