What trany do I have?
I know I am opening myself to being exposed as a not so bright person asking this, but aside from the description of the housing posted on this site....I have a stamping:
C5TP
7A040C
5AM-7
on the trany housing, so most likely C5?

Re: What trany do I have?
C5 would be the date of the nold that it was mae from. but not the actual date of the trasnmission. only the part that is stamped. but i think with the 5am-7 it is a 65 trans but im not a numbers guru. apicture or a real good description would be easier to identify the actual transmission.

Re: What trany do I have?
Is it an automatic? It should have a metal plate on the side with numbers that can be cross referenced in the Ford books. Take a look and post the numbers. The numbers you did post are casting numbers for that specific part of the transmission not for the assembly. As Fordman noted, those numbers tell you when it was designed not when it was used. The 65-67 MX automatics used in trucks are virtually impossible to tell apart from the outside so the tag number is what you have to use to ID it. Hawkrod

PFB-A is an MX transmission for a 1967 Ford pickup. It is commonly called a Cruise O Matic. HawkrodOldNo7 wrote:On the side there is a metal tab with :
