C6 acting up

The C6 in my F250 won't stay in gear when it's cold. Once the engine-tranny get thoroughly warmed up, it will stay in gear. But if it's not, it will jump in and out of gear. Like it goes from neutral, then drops into gear, the a few seconds later back to "neutral", then back into gear for a few seconds, back to neutral, back into gear, etc.
Is the tranny on the way out, or is it something easily fixed? The tranny is full, and once warmed up it's fine.
It's not real convenient to have to spend 15-20 minutes warming up the cold blooded beasty, especially in this weather.
Any help appreciated.

it is probably the seals inside the trasnmission. they are getting old. and they will probably need replaced soon.

Couple questions: How are you checking the fluid level? Idling in Park and fully warmed up, right?

Also, have you checked to ensure the transmission breather isn't clogged? If it is, you'll never get a true fluid level reading.

However, you're probably going to have to deal with the possibility of hard and shrunken forward clutch piston seals. The reason it works better warm is that the seals have swollen a bit with the heat.

yes 2 the rebuild time--my know-vah does the same thing--it's a real bummer 4 sure
