HDMX- FMX trans

hey all,I heard all the parts are same except the case. :? was looking to rebuild my HDMX at school if parts are around. any knowledge about it would be great. thnx :fr:

I got a whole FMX if you want :lol: it I pulled it last year from my 70

i have a complete working mx trasnmission it is from a 67 it also has the watercooler for the tranmission lines.

Sadly almost none of the parts are the same between the MX and FMX, The FMX is an evolution that combined the internal strength of the MX in the size of the FX but very little actually carried forward from the two older designs. Hawkrod

Not true. Most MX and FMX parts look identical and most are even hard to tell apart even when you measure them. But, if you try to mix and match them you will end up with a real mess that won't work.

so it sounds like stuffing fmx cluthes and bands etc. into my MX is abad idea :hmm: . I also got a C6 behind a 351W, will that bolt up to an FE?

fe is a differnt bolt pattern than the 351w

I do not know if some of MX-HD and FMX parts are the same. One main difference between these automatics is that the MX-HD has a second oil pump direct on output shaft. Due to this it's possible to start the engine thru pushing the truck. :thup: FMX trannys don't have this pump.

Nope. Wrong bell housing bolt pattern.

here a c6 disassembly chart maybe you could rebuil done of these for school.
