NP 435 Question

Post by green68250 »

I have a '69 F-100 4x4 with an NP 435 and Dana 21 t-case. I also have a '76 F-150 with an NP 435 and NP 205 t-case. My question is are the 435's the same in both trucks i.e can I bolt the '69 435 in front of the '76 205 t-case?

Thanks a lot,
Corbin

No. The bolt patterns on the back of the transmission are different.

I was thinking they were differen't. I crawled under the '69 to see if I could tell and through the grease and the fact that is was pitch black out is looked to me like they were different but I wanted to make sure. Thanks Rockcrusher, and you are sure that they are different, right? Just making sure. I hope am able to save the tranny in the '76. It was subjected to rain water and had about a gallon of water in it and is badly milk shaked. I am taking it to work to flush it out and see what happens.

Thanks again,

Corbin

Oh ya, I was only thinking of the front of the tranny going to the bell housing. Ya the rear will be different. My bad,

highboy and all in and out t-case 1/2 ton 435's are identicle to 2wd ones. The mated NP205 and ones in 80's 4x4's have a different mainshaft and a different pattern drilled in the rear of the case.

Everything internal except the mainshaft interchanges though, you can make a good tranny from the parts you have.

Thanks for all the help guys. I flushed the tranny out with some brake cleaner today at work. It got almost all if the milkshake out. The inside of the tranny looked good. No damage as far as I could tell. I filled it up with gear oil and I will see what happens when I get the truck driving. It should be fine. If not I will pull it out ans rebuild it with the parts I have.

Thanks again for the help,

Corbin
