Does not having a kickdown really kill a tranny??
My brother told me that not having a kickdown on my C6 will kill the tranny really quick. Is that true becuase I don't have a kickdown on my C6?? And its gonna be my daily driver and if it'll kill i'll put it toward the top of my list to get one.

Not a a C-6 or C-4, but if you were running an AOD it would. The TV cable / kickdown also adjusts pressure for throttle movement

That's what I was thinking too, many people mistake the tv cable for a kickdown.My427stang wrote:Not a a C-6 or C-4, but if you were running an AOD it would. The TV cable / kickdown also adjusts pressure for throttle movement
My ex had a bronco with a 300 C6 when I met her and it had no kickdown. The body rusted off it at 200,000 but the tranny still worked fine. It did get into top gear very quickly though and if you needed second gear you had to shift it down manually.
Great ideas have always encounter violent opposition from mediocre minds.

Ok well i guess i don't need to get a kickdown for awhile. Someday i'll one but i've got bigger fish to fry right now Will it make it harder to find a kickdown since my tranny's out of an 80's F150 Or can i just use one off any auto ford truck??

i think it works lik ethis . but i cant confirm it. if you have a big lock you need a rod from a big block. if you have a small block you need one from a small block.
