F600 dash question

Post by Bobaloo2 »

I found one, now, before I go Friday and take it out, do I need anything more than standard tools? A Phillips and a 1/2" open end, or something of the sort? Does the speedometer have the clip on, or screw on fitting?
Thanks in advance, (or A zone).Bob

A screwdriver and an adjustable wrench should be all you need to remove that instrument panel. The screws hold it to the dash and all the wiring connections are in a coupler. The speedo cable usually is only hand-tight, but in case it needs to be loosened, that's where the adustable wrench comes in.

If it's also got a vacuum gauge or air pressure gauge, bring along a utility knife to slice the air line. If it's got a tach, the adustable wrench will loosen that connection too (it'll be a cable-drive tach, not electric.)

Thanks Keith. I actually have my choice of three, found them today while traveling in the backwoods of this area, a field full of dead big trucks.
I am taking the one with nothing done to the outer holes, so I can size the new hole to fit what I get to put in them. A S-W tach for one and maybe a clock for the other.
