bought a used tranny for my 1977 F 150 4x4. Just a little confused.
The tranny I removed had "88" stamped on the top. The replacement has an "87" stamped on the top. My son said the linkage appears to be different.
Do I need to buy a new shift arm for the tranny? If so, where could I get one?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Mark

re: differences in C6 Transmission
Can you be more specific? What kind of transmission, and what part of the linkage is different?

whoops....forgot to check the post title for the tranny type. I see you've got a C6. Is the difference in the linkage the part that bolts to the shifter shaft coming out of the side of the transmission?

You can swap over that shift arm... if you still got the old tranny.
I don't know of a place to buy those by themselves.
