leaf spring rebuild
Just wondering if anyone knows how hard it is to rebuild the bushings in the leaf spring and hangers. My trucks a 68 f-100 and I think it needs new bushings. Thanks Brian.

Re: leaf spring rebuild
i've never done the bushing in them. but from what i read depending on who you buy or whihc brand you get of replacement bushing you may or may not need to reuse your orignal inner sleeve for the bolt to go through with some brands or types of thsoe bushings.

Re: leaf spring rebuild
Brian,
i just did all the bushing on mine while i had it apart doing the tank swap. i used the polyurethane bushings, the hardest part is removing the outer sleeve after you get the old bushings out. i had to use my torch and cut them out real carefully.
there may be other tricks to them but this was my 1st time doing this so i did all i knew how to do to get them out.

I used a sawzall and made a cut through the inner sleeve and used a cold chisel to fold it in on itself and it came right out. I also used the PST Polygraphite and they went in without a hitch.

My trick was to use a whole-saw to get the old bushings out, then cut the metel sleeve with a sawzall and a good tap of the hammer and out they came!

Re: leaf spring rebuild
TD,
I just looked at the kit and it says "1 required" but it doesn't say if that will do two springs or just one. If it does both springs then I'm cool but if it only does one spring that is too much.
So will item #45-1534 do both springs? I'm actually ordering these parts in a couple of hours so if I don't hear from you I will just ask LMC.
thanks
Austin

Re: leaf spring rebuild
I actually decided to go with the polygraphite kit from PST here:
http://www.p-s-t.com/pc-1182-592-ford-f ... 57-03.aspx
I got the kit for the flexomatic springs (or whatever they are called), so I got this kit.
Polygraphite® Rear Leaf Spring Bushing Set 1968-72
SKU: TRSP01585B
Description: 1968-72 with 3 bushing shackle only
Price: $80.00
It is the same kit that others have ordered, it does both sides, and it seems to work well.
