Re: 70 F350
As long as it is not a 4X4 the rear will bolt in but may be a tad wider. Hawkrod

Re: 70 F350
Dual rear wheel or single rear wheel. I didn't ask as I assumed you were looking at a rearend like what you have already and were wondering if you could use it. Hawkrod

Re: 70 F350
DRW should be the same. The 79 axle is a big upgrade from the early one too.

Re: 70 F350
I thought the DRW axle is shorter. Don't the dents have a wider frame than the bumps? Except for Cab & Chassis DRW trucks which are 34" ,I think, thru to the present trucks. That's why I ask. A DRW axle from up to '97 is a bolt in replacement for 67-72 DRW trucks. Although you will need to do some driveshaft work.

Re: 70 F350
I was under the impression all pre-79 DRW trucks were cab and chassis.

Re: 70 F350
True. The '80 and newer DRW Cab & Chassis rears will still work for DRW bumps, but the dually pickup rears are wider due to the wider frames. I thought all bump frames were 34" wide and that the dents are a couple inches wider. Am I wrong? I've only had a good look at DRW bumps and my '96 F250. I know my '96 frame was a couple inches wider than my '70 DRW and an '86 Cab & Chassis DRW that I had for a while. Am I totally confused? Help me out here.

Re: 70 F350
The dentside F-350's and F-250 4x4's had the same rear frame width as bumpsides single or dual wheel through 77. Where I'm not entirely sure is the 78-79 single wheel F-350's. I know for a fact the beds are different between F-350 super camper special trucks from 73-77 and 78-79, but I'm not entirely sure what that difference is. My guess is they went with the wider frames and 3" wide rear springs for the single rear wheel F-350's in 78-79. It would be nice if someone had access to one to measure.
I'd say it's a safe bet if you are getting a pre-79 DRW F-350 axle it is from a cab and chassis truck and should bolt under any pre-79 F-350 dually.

Re: 70 F350
You are mistaken about dent frame widths. Only regular trucks, Super Cabs, F100/F150 4X4, and 77 1/2-79 F250/350 4X4 have wider frames. The Crew Cabs (no matter which size except 77 1/2-79 4X4), F250 4X4 up to mid 77 and F350 (except 77 1/2-79 4X4) have the narrower frame dimensions still. That is why you can use an F350 SRW dana 70 in your 65-77 1/2 F250! I managed to find a 3.54 limited slip Dana 70 SRW for my Crew Cab but have not installed it yet! These narrower frame trucks also use the same C4TZ rear bumper but the brackets are different. Hawkrod

Re: 70 F350
other than the spline count on the axles, what is the major difference from a 70 - 79 dana 70?

Re: 70 F350
Just spline count. Try getting axles or spiders for a 23 spline D70.
