Here is a link to my truck with magnaflow mufflers. I have never delt with the flowtech,or thrush antone mufflers so I wouldnt know.

http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... 62&t=37020

I have however had the dynomax mufflers & they lasted about 6 months before the guts busted loose & started rattling like I had a handfull of nuts & bolts in the muffler.

The Hooker aerochamber mufflers have a good sound as well. Kinda like a cross between a flowmaster & a magnaflow muffler. Had them on my Dakota & loved them.

Good luck, post up a vid of it so we can hear it!!

I like the rough throaty sound of the Thrush muffler family. But I have moved to large turbo shape glass packs as my truck pulls up in front of customer houses all the time.

I think tommrrow after school I'll take off my exhaust that's on the truck now and put on my shortie headers also I think I'm gonna go with flowtech raptors my brother has his 68 Fury III with the same set up with the x pipe and I like it so I guess that's what I'll do. Unless something I like better comes up.

I have Hedman Hedders, 3" single exhaust and a MagnaFlow muffler, I am very pleased with they way it sounds and performs.

I took off the duals and glass packs and don't miss them at all.

I just took off my dual glass packs and ran it straight exhaust for a minute and it sounds ok actually. I can't wait for the new exhaust :D but I listened to MagnaFlows and they do sound good but too expensive right now.

I've done Flowmasters on several of my Fords, the 40 series is fan-durn-tastic, can't beat the sound, no pop & crack when coming down to a stop like those old glass packs, nice low rumble at idle, and they will talk a bit when you step on it, but not so much that you can't hear Bill Monroe singing on the old 8 track, though you might hafta roll the window up. Put a set of three-chambers on an old 67 Continental I used to have, man they were sweet on that car, but probably too quiet for a pickup.

Too quiet for a pick up? What's the deal with everyone wanting a loud truck? If you're out 4 wheeling you don't really want anybody knowing that you're there... especially cops. Even if you're not doing anything wrong, they want a reason to pull people over, even if you're not wheeling. Old trucks like ours always turn cops heads, especially when loud. If you like it loud than that's cool but I don't like to hear the exhaust. JMHO.

This last summer there were some jer koff kids driving up and down my street every week or so at night causing trouble by driving over my neighbors yard, smashing his wheel barrel, running over other construction equipment. I finally got the plate number and called the police but before I called I confronted them in the middle of the street and told them not to come back and to stop causing trouble. They denied it of course and got really smart with me but I just told them ,"BS! I can hear this truck coming from 2 blocks away. If you want to cause trouble, at least have the brains to not cut the mufflers off your rig." With a loud vehicle, what you're really saying is, "Hey everyone, I'm coming your way... look at me!"

These guys obviously had no brains, they were driving a Chevy!

I like mufs that are a happy medium. Not too loud, not a factory muffler.

I ran straight pipes out the back on my truck for 3 years while I was in highschool with no issues from the police. But, I drove it right. I didnt go driving through peoples yards, or go out knocking down mailboxes & stuff.

People like that dont need a truck, they need a pinto or a geo or something of that nature.

I have 2.5 inch dual 40 series Flowmasters behind my 390. Just like mikeconner1 said they sound great with that old muscle sound and they are not too loud. Flowmaster is my favorite and they last a long time compared to other brands that I've tried.

I agree. I have had my flowmaster for almost 10 years now & its fine. Alot of guys knock them because they rust out too fast, but I dont have that problem.

Too bad I cant say the same for the dynomax I had. 6 months after I put it on, it came off the truck & went into the scrap pile. Total junk. Thats why im a little leery of the new ones. I hope the new ones are better built than the old ones, they sure do sound good on the 5.0 stangs on youtube....... :hmm:
