question?
hey im started working on my truck since it has been in the storage for so many years. i dont know if it has a 352,360 or 390 i check the vin and it said i have a 390 but my dad had it rebuilt and i dont know if the guy ripped out the motor and replace it or rebuilt it .i have no way of contacting the rebuilt since it has been years and we no longer live in that state .any ideas that i can find out what motor i have it says 352 in front of the block. will i be able to install a 351 and mount to the existing motor mounts? will i also be able to reuse the transmission we had it rebuilt also and i dont know what transmission i have.its a 72 camper special. please give me your two cents.and also how hard will it be to convert the axles to 5 lug instead of 8.

Re: question?
the 352 on the block means nothing. it is just generic stamping on all the 352 360 and 390 blocks. the only way to tell is to measure the stroke of the piston. a 352 and 360 will measure 3 1/2 a 390 will measure 3.78 inches.
to put a 351 in there in place of the 390 you will need new engine perches and a 351 matching transmission. the 390 bellousing bolt pattern is different than the 351 bellhousing bolt pattern.

Re: question?
oh and to convert from 8 lug to five or the other way around the easiest way is to swap all of the axles and hubs. everything. that gives you no second guessing and no mixing and matching of axles and or parts.

Re: question?
Honestly, I'm not even certain what you are asking; I think that you are asking 3 questions, two of which would be better in other forums (Drivetrain and suspension)
1) Engine identification and 6/FE to small block engine stand conversion
2) Transmission identification
3) F250 to F100 suspension swap
If I might offer a suggestion, you will receive better replies if you will place the questions in the proper forums with a descriptive subject line.

Re: question?
You want to change the entire front brake system and replace the rear end for 12 more lug nuts?
