It is a different number for each dizzy type. The reason is they have different calibration rates.

They have a problem they list dizzy numbers for your truck that it could not have stock The highest number that your truck would have stock is DOTF-M or J The DOTF-K is not even listed in my Ford manuals as a correct dizzy number.D1TF-EA 9 Degrees advance or C8TF-K for 12.5 degrees advance. Both are single port. FF317 or V311

i just looked at the dizzy and the only numbers i could find is 12-12- and motorcraft underneath, stamped into the metal. the only other thing is a orange or red ink stamp that i cannot make out. what would you reccommend for an altitude of 4500 to 6000 ft. above sea :help: level

Hey for the price difference get a http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDeta ... 18&PTSet=A rather than an advance. You will be done with it and everything will work. You can imagine how wore out the shaft and bushings are in your dizzy.

Open the cap a Duramax will have 8 metal vanes sticking out that fires the reluctar (magnetic pickup). True Duramax's always had dual port advances from the factory. They also have a big gray/silver box.

Accel and Mallory sell Unilite conversions that use a large round wheel that triggers the light system.

Petronix has a hall effect (low magnetic field) system my personal least favorite. I know this starts a war but low magnetic fields are sometimes tripped by large magnetic nearby fields. :2cents:

A conversion might have all sort of problems. Still the plate under a conversion is a points vacuum advance plate and might be worn out.

Parts America again http://www.partsamerica.com/productdeta ... 08&PTSet=A This is the whole sub plate and advance plate that would allow you to use points or a conversion if the plate is worn out.

Any picture?

That is a Duramax. You can keep it. It would still need a sub plate and advance plate but go to autozone and put in a 1976 F100 360 you will see the right parts for that dizzy. Duramax box is a signal amplifier and signal edge shaper It does not control timing but controls points firing. So it is not the problem. You can use the earlier advance parts for single vacuum port.
