Re: power assist
Power assist is quirky, but works much better than a power box when maintained.
You didn't say what kind of truck you have, but many came with power boxes. If yours never did then power assist may be the thing for you. Power assist is far more upgradable with modern components than an old power box is, but you have to know what your doing.

Re: power assist
ok thanks the problem is i already got a saginaw but didnt really like the idea of it running underneath the leaf springs and or welding/cutting frame. So there for thought it would be easier to go with the assist. Do you know of any kits or any parts places that would be good resources and also this is more a on the road truck so no really bogging more less cruising and show.

Re: power assist
It would really help if you said what model of truck you have and what saginaw box you have.

Re: power assist
I had power assist and it is truley junk. A buddy and I both had new 1974 F250 4x4. Mine had power assist and his didn't. His truck actually steered better than mine and didn't eat power steering pumps. Plus that ram is the lowest thing on the truck and when you whack it out you are screwed. Even when Ford still serviced that part 20 years ago it was $400+
Great ideas have always encounter violent opposition from mediocre minds.
