Ignitor and Ignitor II are good under cap replacements for points. They will fit your existing distributor. You can also use a good high volt coil to help. I got an Ignitor in mine. I love it. No trouble or adjustment at all since I put it in.

I am plenty happy with the petronix. HEI style distributors are available for many Fords. Davis Unified is probably the best from what I hear.

Are the ignitor and pertronix available at a parts house or online? What is the difference in the two? I will do some research soon when I can. :hmm:

Pertronix is the company that makes the ignitor. If you go to any speed shop they should carry the Pertronix Ignitor II, buy that along with the Flamethrower Coil that they make as well. The install takes literally under 10 minutes and is outstanding. You should expect to pay around 130.00 for both the Ignitor II points eliminator kit and the Flamethrower coil. It is a fool proof install and is well worth the money. The only issue I had was I got a defective part, but I warrantied it out and now she purrs like a kitten. I give it   and a :fr:

I went to O'reilly earlier to get a fuel filter and they had the ignitor for around $ 90.00 . I will shop around and get an Ignitor II and a coil soon. Thanks guys!

Pertronix is the best bang for the buck. I bought mine at Knechts (for less than 100 bucks) at the same time I bought my intake and carb. I am no expert at setting up points, but I noticed more of a change with the Pertronix than I did with the new intake and Performer carb. Just my two cents.

You got burned!!! They don't cost that much here at any store. My last Accel points eliminator cost me 45. If you saw more change from the points eliminator then you had a seriously out of tune truck :2cents:
