Ok, it's my first post - and transmissions are really not my thing, so please bear with me. I have searched the forums - but I think I am using the wrong search terms. I am hoping somebody canhelp me.
I have a 1967 F100. Based off the CIN plate on the door I have a transmission code of G which is a Cruise-o-matic.
Here is my problem. When I put the truck in 'D', it starts in 1st gear and will not shift into 2nd or 3rd. If I put it in '2' and drive and then while driving put it into 'D', it will stay in 2nd, but won't shift into 3rd.
The problem started overnight. It was fine on the way out one morning. Problem showed up when I got into the truck to go home later that day.
Fluid level is fine.
Any thoughts? I am hoping it is a relatively inexpensive and quick repair.

i have the same transmission in my 67 i really dont like it mine shifts hard and if you stomp on the gas it doesnt like to shift.. im replacing it in a few months with a 4spd.
I don't really care about brands Chevy Ford Dodge ...as long as it doesn't sound like two old dudes farting in a coffee can.

Check the Vacuum Modulator. Sounds like the vacuum line popped off.
1968 F100 Took the running 390 out, and installed a Built 300 with AOD.

Put in reverse and get it rolling backwards. Slam it into "D" and nail it.
Might take a couple tries. (knocks the stuck govenor loose).
