Steering Q's

Post by 19FORD67 »

Please excuse my ignerince, but this is all new to me so I'm sure i have alot of dumb questions for you old timers, even most of you new timers,
but here goes:

My donor truck had a 302 and power steering. Can I reuse this engine perch for my 352? I wouldnt think so but I'm asking anyway.

From the tutorial I gather that I can reuse the '79 column just that the wire
connections are diff.

And, what issues can I expect with the '79 master/booster on my '67?

Is there a booster I could use that doesn't require carb vacuum? I don't
really care for how the big ugly hose looks protruding from the booster.

No. Check out this page:

A '79 booster will not work. You'll can use one up to '77½, but the later boosters won't work. Check out this link for more info:

Do a search here for Hydroboost...it's a very popular upgrade that'll out-perform a vaccum-assist booster and is a hydraulic unit that's spliced into your power steering system. There's also a tutorial here written by a forum member on installing such a setup. Read this link:

Ok, thanks for the info, how about the master cylinder? Here's a pic of it,
will it fit the 68-77 booster?

Hydro-boost looks awesome! I'm definately gonna check into it. It might be a bit more technical than I can handle, we shall see.
