re: how would you remove this nut?
Another thing that could cause that problem is that sometimes people will put red Loctite on those converter nuts when they install them and they basically lock solid. A little heat from a torch will soften it up if you think Loctite is the culprit. New locknuts should be used each time, but if you're going to reuse them, use the blue Loctite. That should save you some trouble next time you need to remove the nuts.

re: how would you remove this nut?
This question is kinda on topic but what size nuts are those because my nuts did the same thing and I ended up using a chisel to get them off and I need replacements???

re: how would you remove this nut?
I replace them every time out of habit. Almost every tranny I have ever pulled has had at least 1 round off... and I do know how to get them out.
That said, I have a dozen or so 'good spares' - somewhere in my 'nuts-and-bolts' bins....
Even worse is when you have to pick up after some idiot that didn't know what they were doing (no offense Ryan!)
Sometimes prudence is more important than mfr suggestions.

re: how would you remove this nut?
The problem is not usually the socket or the ratchet (air or otherwise) , it is the idiot on the other end that puts an extension on there ( whines: "I might scratch my knuckles") and then doesn't support the extension and ends up twisting the points off.
The most fun I had was pounding a 13MM 6 point socket on because that was all we had... worked, but I can tell you that guys extension smelled funny after I 'Re-educated' him.
Good tools are imperative. That is why I shop at Harbor Freight... reminds me why I still have my Snap-On's.

Re: re: how would you remove this nut?
we did replace the nuts that we rounded off, i dont know why you wouldnt
originally the socket did start to slip up (i reinforce the extension always, but it still started slipping) and i think thats what started the whole deal.
I tried pounding on a smaller socket after it started to get a little stripped, but there was no room to swing a hammer. maybe i was in the wrong position or something though
you should see my knuckles71PA_Highboy wrote:The problem is not usually the socket or the ratchet (air or otherwise) , it is the idiot on the other end that puts an extension on there ( whines: "I might scratch my knuckles") and then doesn't support the extension and ends up twisting the points off.
