Thoughts on my 460

Post by OldRedFord »

Im hoping that my cam, intake, and carb selection will be good enough.

Looking at either a Edelbrock Performer RPM or a Weiand Stealth intake, and a Holly 750 cfm carb. Headers will be 1 3/4 in primaries into 3" collectors. Also hope that the cam (Crane 354551) will have somewhat of a lope at idle.

At this point Im unsure if im....having the stock heads worked, getting aftermarket ones (one of my friends is looking for a pair for me) or just using the stock heads for now.

Shooting for 400+ hp

Are you talking RPM Air-Gap intake? If so, the two intakes are comparable. Headers should be 1 7/8" into 3". What year cylinder heads do you have? If you get aftermarket heads, such as Edelbrock, you should still have them ported by a reputable engine builder. Also recommend getting a re-curved Duraspark distributor, roller rockers, high volume oil pump, etc.
400 HP should be easy.
