Rear end identification: DOTA-AS, 603195-5, 3.73
Hello folks,
Could you folks take a look at the ID tag on my rear end and help me identify it? It seems plain that it has a 3.73 ratio, but I'm curious to know more about it, like the make and model.
Here's a higher resolution edition of the same photo:

I checked out Keith's excellent rear end ID FAQ section but couldn't find mine listed there.
Thanks very much!

the top number is the ford prefix and suffix minus the base part number look here http://www.fordification.com/rearends-ford01.htm
The 603195-5 is the Dana Spicer BOM # (bill of materials). Unfortunately Dana site doesn't accommodate our old stuff

You are correct the 3.73 mean 3.73 to 1 final gear ratio

'Evening Wes and Dustin,
Thanks for the information! I suppose if Dana doesn't give us information on that BOM number it may not be possible to get more details on the unit. But more details may not be necessary, since the 3.73 ratio could be all that matters.
Dustin, is "Dana 60" the model name of this rear end? And does 16 spline refer to the number of splines on the input (where the driveshaft connects)?
Thanks again folks,
-Robroy

Dana 60 is the type. Dana 60's can found in all of the big 3 3/4 and 1 ton trucks, along w/ some others. The 16 spline that Dustin mentioned refers to the axle spline count.
The BOM number will be handy to have if/when there is multiple choices for year model when looking to replace seals and bearings.

Good morning Wes,
Thanks for the information! I now "get it" with regard to the BOM number; thanks.
So is the 16 spline count the only other factor that's tracked because it's the only one that differs between rear ends? The input connection remains the same between different Dana 60's?
Thanks again,
-Robroy
