352 Rebuild Kits - Need Advice

Post by tcox67 »

Hello All:

My son and I are working on a 1967 F250 Camper Special with a 352 and the engine has a major hole in the right side. I was able to get a complete 1964 352 locally for $90 and we took it apart to do a total rebuild. Right now it is down at the machine shop getting hot tanked and inspected. The machinist said the crank is fine but the cylinders need to be bored .030 over and that all of the valves need to be replaced. My question is where is a good place to buy the rebuild kit and valves?

Thanks in advance.

Remember the pre '65 blocks don't have the motor mount holes needed for our trucks. There's a write up here somewhere about it but if i remember correctly, the '65 and later FE's have 4 holes where the '58- '64 only had 2. You need the later block to bolt it into your truck without fabricating an adapter.

Someone like Keith or Hawkrod could be more specific on this than I can.

Thanks for the information. I just called the machine shop and he said the block has 4 bolt holes on each side for the motor mounts. He also gave me the casting off of the block and it is C5AE-A. I looked it up in the chart but that doesn't appear to be a 352. The crank has a C4AE which points to a '64 352, which is what the engine came out of. I am not sure what to do with this one.

That sounds like a '65 block. The machine shop can measure the bore and determine what it is.
