240ci/300ci Question

Post by smclaren »

Hi Guys

Quick question. Was there ever a factory 2 barrel carb spec for the 240/300 engine. Someone told me the other day that some Canadian trucks had a 2 barrel option on 240/300 from new. Is this right ?

If yes, what's the story with the intake manifold ? My intake supports the 1 barrel only, and I would LOVE to get that 2 barrel option if it exists.

Thanks

Ive never heard of any 2 bbl option from the factory. Either make an adapter for the single bbl intake for a 2 bbl carb, or get an Offenhauser or Clifford intake which is set up for 4 bbl carbs, and an adapter can by put on those which would mount a 2 bbl.

I run a 4v carb on my Offenhouser C series intake. The Offy C lets you choose 2 or 4v, but the offy dp is 4V only. Clifford makes intakes so you can pick a 2 or 4v. Also they have Single 4v intakes, dual 4v intakes, tripple duece, and tripple webber side draught.

Uh huh. The inline six intakes expert was lurking on here. Hey while youre here, do you have a good source for those Offy-C"s?

I got mine from JC Whitney. Seemed pretty fair priced. :)

$264.99 from JC whitney, whereas www.offyparts.com wants $358.49.

Jamie,
Do the Offenhauser C-series bolt up to the stock exhaust manifold, or do you need to run headers ? :?

Running headers would make most sense to get the performance benefit, but I am thinking a step at a time here.

Thanks

The offy c-series will bolt up to the factory log, the efi 2 pc and headers.

I think the only headers they may have any issue with are the clifford headers.

I have an adapter for a 2bbl carb to a 1bbl intake. I bought it this year but I have now upgraded my setup and don't need it.

One thing I forgot to add is that on my offy c I made an adapter to run GM 2 bbl TBI setup on it.

So far I have gotten it to idle and rev pretty good.

I cant give any info on drive ability since I need a new driveshaft.

Hey spart, I think that is a great idea, probably the most bullit proof efi ever. Did you get it into closed loop yet?

I also think it is useless to put a 2 bbl adapter on a stock manifold, if you do have a machinist hog it out down the throat maybe.

So, Jamie, is the C better than the DP for a common street truck? I have a DP and a dual Clifford, no plans for the clifford as yet.
Waiting on that cross flow head.lol

No real exhaust on it yet so no closed loop mode yet.

If all goes well this fall, I will have my garage back and then put the bump in there and get some of this sheet working like its supposed to.
