If you did get it to work, it woundn't stay together long behind a 429.
I think that trans was barely rated for 300ft.lbs of torque.. :2cents:

right now i have a stock 3 spd behind the 429, and it is doin well, i just would like a few extra gears, i was told the i would snap the input shaft off of the 3 spd the 1st time i dump the clutch, but i cant count the times i have dumped the clutch and stayed in it on pavement, it just spins and spins, still together, :lol:

From what I understand that 4 speed is a light weight tranny.

If it is the cast iron case it is a bit stronger and if you wanted down the road you could swap in a complete toploader gear set for it.

Only down side to these transmissions is that parts are a bit hard to come by.

Believe me I have looked and looked for parts.

Not much there.

these transmission will often blow third gear a lot i was thinking about one of these untill i learn all the bad things about them.
I don't really care about brands Chevy Ford Dodge ...as long as it doesn't sound like two old dudes farting in a coffee can.

does that thing still have reverse?? everyone ive seen doesnt :hs:
