axle ?

Post by jguajardotx »

I replaced my 28 spline third member for a 31 spline. Any one know if a pair of 31 spline axles off a 1979 Bronco will fit my 67 F100?

No, they won't. 31 spline bump axles are very, very few and far between. Most will say they don't exist.

You can get custom axles made, switch to a 73+ housing and axles or switch the spicers to 28 spline

Ya, they will be longer than the stsock 28 spline axles. Good luck finding some 31 splines that are the right length. The best way to go is probably to get some custom made.

Thanks ,

I am gonna save myself the hassle and look for another 28 spline third member. Seen a couple rebuilt ones on ebay that were not to expensive. Should I be looking for a certain year 28 spline third member or will any 28 spline work?

Swap out the side gears & pinion idlers for your old 28 spline set. keep the piece together and in the same order.
