my truck wont start ,it just cranks. and i think i need it running by Saturday. i disconnected the fuel line directly under the cab, and found the lines to be completely dry. so i figured theres a clog. so i blew out the line towards the tank with the compressor. then hooked it back up. then i took the line off of the fuel pump thing, and it was completely dry. then i blew towards the tank just incase there is a clog there. so what do you guys think
all lines are dry. truck runs for a couple seconds when i spray the carb with starter.
bad pump? clogged filter?
engine is being replaced this weekend anyways with a 429. id like to find out whats wrong though, its bothering me

re: bad fuel pump?
if you had a clog in the line o the carb there would still be gas in the line from the tank.... most likely a bad fuel pump..

re: bad fuel pump?
Fill the fuel filter canister with gas, and then take the outlet line off the fuel pump and see if fuel comes out.

thanks guys, filled the canister with fuel and then tried starting it again. just kept cranking.
so i cleaned up the tools and called it quits and then figured to try one more time. hopped in and cranked it and it fired right up.
runs really nice except for a ticking sound
now when it idles there is a tick tick tick and then when i give it gas the ticking gets faster. sounds like its coming from the pulley/alternator area
things ive done before this noise were i removed the a/c compressor but left the pulleys alone and it never had a belt anyways, and i think thats all
doesnt sound like an exhaust leak, because i remember exhaust leaks are really hard to hear for me, this anyone can here. its not LOUD, but its not quite.
we also have had problems lately with only 6 cylinders firing. maybe its doing it again but i dont remember this ticking sound.
