Some more questions about a 3 speed swap.
OK I have a 3 speed 2wd trans out of 70 f100 2wd 360 3 on the tree. I want to swap out an old tired c4. It has a 2.07 Dana 44 rear end. It came out of a 76 f100. So anyone know anything about how this will act? The tag reads RAT G2 011707. It looks fully synced to me or am I wrong? Anyone know a good shifter for this trans? Can I use an aluminum bellhousing? Does anyone use a hyd clutch from the mid 80s f150? Looks almost bolton because of the external slave cylinder. I know tons of questions. Sorry but I wanted to keep it as short as possibe. Thanks for any help. Also if anyone has any pics of floor shifted 2wd trucks or aftermarket shifter setups could you post them please? Thanks.

I'm thinkin it's a typo. Highest ratio I know of for a D44 is 3.07.cdherman wrote:2.07 rear???
RTG_RACING, that trans from the 76 F100 should be a short tailshaft 3.03.Yes it's scynchronized in all 3 gears. The rear is geared a little high for a 3 speed. My choice would be a 3.50 range gear set.I believe Hurst still makes a good 3 speed shifter.

Maybe it is. But I thought you could devide the ring gear teeth by the pinion gear teeth to get the ratio. But if it is a 3.07 then it should be good on the street. What kind of clutch and flywheel do I need to get for this 351w? Also what bellhousing do I get? The late model 5 speed wont work if I understand. IS anything from the 60s 70s going to work?AlleyCat wrote:I'm thinkin it's a typo. Highest ratio I know of for a D44 is 3.07.cdherman wrote:2.07 rear???
