Which gears to use?
I have been tossing around the idea of making the '68 crew into a racer and was wondering what gears would be best to use? It currently has a Dana 60 rear with 4.10's? I'm thinking that a 460 will be the powerplant with a built C-6 unless I find something better to use.

re: Which gears to use?
I was thinking more of a stop light to stop light kind of deal or taking it on a strip once in a while for kicks and giggles. Mainly something that will run around town and scare ricers and such.
Wes I was thinking of putting this engine in to save time on me building one:

re: Which gears to use?
Thats a Big "A" engine. Might wanna upgrade the origonal D60 to a 31 spline D60 with some Yukon shafts.
Some 4.56s or 4.88s might be good.

re: Which gears to use?
How tall of a tire? I ran a 26" tall tire on my '65 chevelle with 4.11 gears mostly for drag racing. Problem was that on the freeway the engine was turning between 3500 and 4000 rpm's. Went through the speed traps at 110mph with the engine screaming. You would oviously have a taller tire on your truck so 4.10's for you would be no big deal. 4.56 or 4.88 would be better for racing, just don't plan on long road trips unless you have tons of cash for gas.

I really haven't thought too much on what size of tire yet.
